Social activities for people with sight loss, in the Brighton and Hove AreaArgus Charity of the year 2008 |
report from Jonathan Dutton
1st March was a bright crisp day as intrepid City Synergy members decided to do some deep water exploration. Naturally we met by the seafront, but, the water being a bit chilly, we turned left to go into the Sea Life centre rather than right and across the shingle into the surf.
A goodly bunch of 16 of us were met by Max and Kelly who showed us around the impressive displays. They spoke entertainingly and informatively about the fish and other water-life on display, and provided vivid descriptions (and a few recipes). Although many of us have visited the aquarium over the years, we agreed that this was the most interesting visit as we learnt about the Sea Life centre commitment to rescue and conservation, and fascinating facts about the creatures on display.
Continuing the fish themed day, many of us followed up the visit by a walk along the Palace Pier and we enjoyed fish and chips in the restaurant (making us, of course, fish and chipocrates).
City Synergy want to pay particular tribute to Max and Kelly of the Sea Life centre who made the day so interesting and enjoyable.
